Tesla raised the Supercharger rates in the US

Tesla increased its Supercharging rates in the United States, Electrek reports. While the prices of
most states increased by 20 to 40 percent, some experienced a significant increase in costs. For
example, California rates have risen from 20 cents per kWh to 26 cents, and the New York rose
from 19 cents per kWh to 24 cents, but Oregon rates have doubled from 12 cents per kWh to 24
cents.

Tesla 3 drivers will be touched the most because, while the owners of the S and X models receive
400 kWh of Supercharger credits every year, the model 3 owners do not. Last year, Tesla is
expanding its top-up network, expanding into urban areas and building larger recharge stations.
As the production of the model 3 increases, its charging stations will probably be more useful.

Tesla told Electrek that even if he adjusted the Supercharger prices, they would always be
cheaper than gas. "From time to time, we adjust rates to reflect current local electricity and
consumption. The following principle is that recharging will always be significantly cheaper than
gasoline, because our goal is to recover some of our costs while establishing a fair system for
everyone", said Tesla. "It will never be a profit center for Tesla." You can check what Tesla
Superchargers prices are in your region.
