Imported Chinese truck, bus tires found to not hurt US industry

Imported Chinese truck, bus tires found to not hurt US industry
US International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Wednesday that subsidized bus and truck
tires imported from China had not damaged the US industry.
As a result, the ITC said in a statement that it would not issue anti-dumping and countervailing
duty orders on imports of these products.
The ruling followed negative votes by three of the five members of the commission who voted,
the ITC said in its statement. It said one of the six commissioners did not participate.
The US Commerce Department on January 23 had determined final subsidy rates ranging from
38.61 percent to 65.46 percent and anti-dumping margins ranging from 9 percent to 22.57
percent on such imports.
In 2015, US imports of more than 8.9 million truck and bus tires from China were worth 1.07
billion US dollars.
China's Ministry of Commerce said the January finding was extremely unfair and gravely harmed
China's interests, according to an article on China's state radio website.
The probe was launched last year after a petition by the United Steel, Paper and Forestry,
Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union.
